Los Alamitos High School junior and basketball team member Jacqy Lok saw a story on the Internet about a little girl with cancer and how she had to be taken out of school and had to stay at a hospital.

She did some research and found a local woman who was planning a fundraiser and Lok started contacting her about helping out at that event.

Lok and her friends (all juniors at the school) Ashley Sholmire of the school’s Varsity Girls Soccer team, and Ariel Lipski started a Make-A-Wish club at the high school and participated in a fundraiser for the organization at Buena Park. They also set up a booth for the club at the high school club day to recruit more volunteers.

“The club is to mainly let other teenagers and students at Los Alamitos High School volunteer at the local Make A Wish fundraiser and also try to raise money to donate to that charity by running game booths at those events,” Lok said.

At the last event, the girls purchased the items and ran the booth themselves, selling tickets to use at those game booths.
