Unite Clothing brings fun to B&G Club

Fridays are always fun days at the Boys & Girls Club of Cypress, but on the Fridays that Unite Clothing comes, they are something extra special. On Friday, February 17th, Unite Clothing provided an exciting day of activities for all Club members to enjoy. Club members did face painting, made paper bag puppets, played cops and robbers, searched for items in a scavenger hunt, and danced to music thanks to a live DJ.

For over a year, Unite Clothing and the Boys & Girls Club of Cypress have partnered to bring fun, meaningful activities to youth in the community. Every month, a group of volunteers from Unite Clothing, a local humanitarian-based clothing company, come to one of two club sites to play games, teach arts and crafts, and spend time with club members. These days, called “Love United Days,” are a way that Unite Clothing serves the community they work in.

Founded by Seanloui Dumas, Unite Clothing was started with $25 of left over money from his birthday. Interested in more than just starting a new clothing company, Seanloui wanted to a way to actively make an impact in the lives of others. “I was vastly concerned with the rise of poverty in our world as well as our disability to do anything simply because of disagreements over the way it should be done,” stated Seanloui.

The mission of Unite Clothing is to empower, support, and provide a financial pathway for children, families, and the homeless to rise above and overcome poverty. Their vision is to organize and lead events that will be memorable and support the growth of both positive individuals and communities throughout the United States and the rest of the world. All proceeds from clothing sales finance these humanitarian efforts through their Love United Days.

Seanloui and his team believe that meeting the emotional needs of the impoverished are just as important as meeting the physical needs. “We acknowledge that there are so many different aspects of poverty that can be harmful to a person. Emotional needs are oftentimes brushed aside in favor of the physical needs such as food and shelter. While there is a valuable place for those things, our goal is to go above and beyond. Through programs like youth mentoring, we directly show love to those affected by poverty.”

This holistic approach to helping others can be summed up in their motto, “Love Others. Help People.” The team at Unite Clothing believes that love should be put into action to make the world a better place, and that they are to use their gifts and talents to help people regardless of any creed or religious identity.
