Cypress scouts help families

Chartered through Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Cypress, Boy Scout Troop 670 along with Lutheran Social Services of Garden Grove supplied four children from two needy families with box loads of toys and educational gifts, as they have in the past five years. They provided new clothing, jackets and backpacks filled with school supplies and each child also received a Christmas stocking filled to the brim with even more goodies. Grown-ups were not forgotten either as Troop 670 donated gifts for the parents as well.

Additionally, each family received a 6′ Christmas tree with ornaments, lighting, and a tree topper. They were also presented with baskets filled with food to last long past Christmas dinner, as well as food gift certificates so they can purchase their own main dish with fixings for their Christmas dinner.

Troop 670 takes pride in giving back to their local community through service projects such as Scout Sunday and Scouting for Food. This is one way in which Troop 670 shows Scouting spirit, living up to the Scout slogan to “Do a Good Turn Daily,” and the Scout oath to “Help Other People at All Times”.
