Community service projects such as this gives LAVP members a peak into the many things involved in setting up a major event for the community. Their helping hands and creative minds also give the Recreation and Community Services Department a fresh perspective to help make every community event as interactive and fun as possible for everyone to enjoy.

The LAVP is for boys and girls between the ages of 11-17 years old who are looking to assist their community and earn volunteer hours at the same time.  They can assist the Recreation and Community Services Department in their special events and do monthly community services projects.  Past community services projects included assisting the City of Cypress in their 5/10K Run, the City of Seal Beach in their Run Seal Beach event, and St. Isidore Plaza.  Members also have an opportunity to volunteer for city programs such as day camp, youth sports and pre-school classes.

For additional information on LAVP, or to submit an application, please contact the Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department at 562-430-1073 or visit them online at www.cityoflosalamitos.org.
