AAUW honors women’s history
The La Palma-Cerritos Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) celebrated National Women’s History Month at their March 21 meeting at Cerritos Library in Cerritos.
Katella project opposition continues
The proposed warehousing and trucking center in Cypress along Katella Avenue continued to bring about opposition and the Los Alamitos City Council held a special meeting on Thursday to discuss the issue in closed session.
Two suspects rob local Stabucks
A man armed with what Los Alamitos Police believe was a semi-automatic pistol robbed the Starbucks at 3575 Katella Ave., at about 4:30 a.m., on Friday, March 15.
Los Al tennis tops Marina
The Los Alamitos High boys tennis team opened up Sunset League play with a 12-6 win over Marina on Friday at Los Alamitos High.
Shootout Champs
The Los Alamitos 6th Grade Boys NJB All-Star team finished the season a perfect 9-0. Here they are pictured after winning the NJB All Net National Tournament. NJB Champs
The BIG M, Cal State Northridge Matadors had an undefeated season with a 13-0 record and winning the NJB 5th/6th Los Alamitos D2 Division Championship against the UCLA Bruins. Los Al grad named lacrosse defensive player of week
Aurora University Junior and Cypress native, Spencer Fuqua (Los Alamitos High) was named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) Defensive Player top honors for the week ending March 17.
Los Al grad making waves in rowing
Stanford University’s rowing team will begin its 2013 season at the end of March and attempt to defend its IRA National Championship with Rossmoor native and Los Alamitos High graduate Alex Cours now a returning senior to the team.
Los Al softball battles in Best of the West
The Los Alamitos High softball team split a doubleheader at home during the final day of the Best of the West Tournament on Saturday, March 16. Though the Griffins started the day with a 6-3 loss to Norco, they finished with a 9-6 victory against Mater Dei.
