Bronco World Series coming to Los Alamitos

The Pony Baseball Bronco World Series is coming to Los Alamitos on Thursday. Eight 12-year old teams from Vacaville, CA; Evanston, IN; Miami, FL; Los Alamitos, CA; Los Mochis, Mexico; Ponce, Puerto Rico; Raleigh, NC; and Seoul, South Korea will be arriving at the LAYB facility on Thursday.

Opening ceremonies begin at 4 p.m. with speeches by Los Alamitos Mayor Warren Kusumoto, 1986 LAYB World Series Bronco Coach Dave Scott, former Angel player, Clyde Wright and others. There will be a parade of teams, military color guard and presentation of flags. The first pitch will be thrown out by combat veteran, Major Arnie Carrillo. Games will begin at 5:30 p.m.

On Friday, August 2, Home Run Derby competition will start at noon with 16 sluggers competing for the title. At 2 p.m., LAYB will be hosting the Champions Game, a group of special needs players pairing up with the World Series players for an inspirational game of baseball.

Games continue on Friday and Saturday with the championship game on Sunday at 5 p.m. Daily ticket prices are $8/adults, $5/children (ages 5-12) with children under 4 for free. Parking is available at the Joint Force Training Base at no charge.
