LAYB’s Pony 14 A team were the champions of the 2 day USSSA Firecracker NIT tournament at Big League Dreams, Chino Hills over the 4th of July holiday weekend.  The LAYB Pony team was 1-1 in pool play with a loss to the SoCal Cavs.  Los Alamitos faced the Cavs again in the semifinals, but this time Los Al won the game 7-3.  In the championship game, Pony 14 A faced off against a tough South Gate Cardinals team defeating them 8-3 to win the championship. The Seal Beach City Council observed a moment of silence Monday night, July 8, in memory of former resident and Los Al High grad Kevin Woyjeck, who died along with 18 other elite firefighters on Sunday, June 30, battling the Yarnell, Ariz., wildfire.

Funeral for local resident, Cody Allen Hall

Cody Allen Hall, 23, lost his life on Sunday, June 23 in a fatal plane crash in Boulder, Nevada.  Cody was a resident of North Las Vegas and worked as an aircraft electrician in the National Guard.  He had just finished his first year in the military.  He is survived by his mother, Lori Hall, father, Joseph Hall, sister, Michelle Hall and brother, Jacob Hull of Cypress, CA.  Cody was loved by so many…he will truly be missed.
