The Youth Center in Los Alamitos will host the first annual “A Night Among the Stars Community Volunteer Event” on Feb. 9, to award local youth by recognizing their efforts to participate and engage positively in the community.
The Youth Center strongly believes that making a difference in the lives of youth can only be described as a worthwhile and fulfilling experience.
“This endeavor is taken to an entirely different level when such youth themselves become involved with giving back to those from which they have received,” said Executive Director Lina Lumme. “That is truly stellar!”
The Youth Center will host the formal event to honor 25 nominees who will all receive certificates and letters of recommendation for their efforts. At the award ceremony, two of the 25 outstanding volunteers will be the recipients of scholarships in the amount of $500 each.
“A Night Among the Stars” is the final step of Elaine Wissuchek’s Gold Award Project. She has diligently worked on this distinguished venture for over a year. “This project aims to help young people in our community connect with the organizations that need their help,” said Wissuchek. “The help that has been given is truly appreciated by the organizations and the whole community.”
The Youth Center is recognizing all the nominees including Rebecca Ahn, Sarah Ahn, David Balladares, Ian Burgos, Jackie Burgos, Alyssa Campbell, Elise Chalfant, Conner Fatone, Cullen Fitzgibbons, Julian Guerrero, David Halafihi, Milad Hassibi, Joshua Hulsey, Kian Iranineiadian, Evan Jenkins, Breanna Jones, Erica Mogilevsky, Phoebe Ortega, Matthew Patz, Isaiah Porter, Brendan Rossi, Ray Sabo, Traci Swayer, and Rachel Udabe.
