The City of Los Alamitos has partnered with the Southern California Special Olympics to form a local Special Olympics tennis team – the Los Alamitos Wolves.
The team consists of athletes Carly Dodd (Westminster), Josh Manso (Long Beach), Kenneth Noguchi (Redondo Beach), Ryan Rodriguez (Seal Beach), and Albert Hong (Cypress). They are coached by Mike Brennan (Seal Beach), Gerrylyn De Guia (Norwalk), Calvin Kwan (Cypress), Teri Monroy (Los Alamitos),Gail Yaksitch (Long Beach), and Jose Manso (Long Beach).

The athletes and coaches attended their first competition on Saturday, Oct. 22 and all of them did a fantastic job with some earning medals.
Carly Dodd – Bronze medal in singles and Gold medal in doubles
Josh Manso – Silver medal in singles and Silver medal in doubles
Kenneth Noguchi – Gold medal in singles and Gold medal in doubles
Ryan Rodriguez – Gold medal in singles and Silver medal in doubles
Albert Hong did not compete due to illness
Tremendous job to all the athletes and coaches.
Through Special Olympics, athletes with intellectual disabilities gain confidence, self-esteem, and develop life skills in a fun, supportive team environment.
Volunteers enjoy rewarding experiences as the athletes’ coaches and assistant coaches.
