The Youth Center’s 17th annual tree lot will be open Nov. 26 at the Ganahl Lumber parking lot in Los Alamitos from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends, and 12 – 9 p.m. weekdays.  Customers have a choice of wonderfully fragrant Noble, Nordman, Douglas and Grand Fir trees along with tree stands, watering spouts, wreaths, and other festive goodies.
More than 500 volunteers help with this fundraiser every year. If you’d like to volunteer, there is mandatory meeting on Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Youth Center. Money raised at the tree lot goes to support programs for kids in the community, allowing school groups like school PTA groups and the Los Alamitos High School sports booster organizations to earn funds as well.
The Youth Center receives more and more kids every year and they do not receive federal or state funding.  Its programs have increased in demand, requiring more staff to help kids and their families, and there is more need by local families for scholarships.
For more information on the tree lot, volunteering or programs offered, please contact the Youth Center at 562-493-4043 or go online at theyouthcenter.org.
