The “Swordfish” sign (Sam’s and Don’s) gone high atop rooftop in Sunset Beach. I noticed the sign gone and was immediately saddened as I had gone there as a small girl with my parents and sister. When we had guests from out of town, it was a favorite, good food and fun decor. My mom, actually obtained the recipe for their spare ribs “Don the Beachcomber” spare ribs. They are very tasty, even in the oven!
In 2014, I took my daughters there for a birthday, I asked about the ribs, nobody knew or heard of them, the place wasn’t the same. It would be great to see that sign back on PCH, for those who remember, to savor good memories.
I picked up this print at the Garden Grove Elks Lodge during their quarterly “Tiki” sale, and framed it for my own memory. Notice it says “Don’s”. They must have changed to Don’s in the late 80’s but the date is a guestimate.
