City breaks ground on Coyote Creek Park

The City of Los Alamitos held a ceremonial ground breaking for the new Coyote Creek Park, which will run along the San Gabriel River, behind Oak Middle School, on Oct. 15. The Los Alamitos Unified School District also had several officials in attendance and many former city and school officials also attended.

The park has been in the works since 2005, when grant money was secured from the Rivers and Mountains Conservancy to fund the park. The eventual park will encompass about 2,500 square feet and 4 acres. It will be what is called a passive park, used for recreation, but with no designated sports fields.

Los Alamitos Mayor Troy Edgar recognized the efforts of many city officials and staff members who have contributed to getting to the construction of the new park. “It will definitely be and asset to the city,” Edgar said.
