With a hurricane churning huge waves toward Orange County beaches, lifeguards and other marine safety officials are reminding water lovers that this environment is another reminder that, as always, safety should be paramount.
For coastal communities focused on water-related activities, Watersafe Swim School announced this week that it is bringing back one of the area’s most popular swimming programs to teach water safety to people of all ages.
In a statement, Watersafe Swim School announced this week it is bringing back its “All-You-Can-Swim” program to each of its locations in Los Alamitos and Long Beach.
“Watersafe Swim School is committed to providing our community with year-round access to quality swim instruction,” said Meryl Cohn, Chief Operations Officer, “especially here in Southern California, where water activities are enjoyed throughout the year, it’s important to remember that water safety isn’t seasonal,” she said.
The company operates one of the oldest and most respected swim safety programs.
“The award-winning “Smart Fish” curriculum was developed by Ginny (Flahive) Ferguson and her daughter Karen Flahive Nance at Watersafe Swim School.
Since 1971, this comprehensive method has successfully taught survival skills and advanced techniques to thousands of students (from birth to adulthood).
“We do this every September-November,” said Cohn.
“Any student that’s enrolled at least one day per week can swim up to 7 days a week for the price of one, pending daily availability. This year we are sweetening the deal with an added promotion called Splash Pass,” she said.
Next year, Watersafe Swim School will be celebrating half a century in business, she said, offering 50 years of marine safety skills to area residents.

Cohn said safety should always be a factor in swimming and that Watersafe Swim School is proud to offer proven safety skill instruction to its customers. She said their annual program offers residents a cost-effective way to swim and learn.
