Shoes for King School children

The Cypress Children’s Advocacy Council distributed brand new shoes to at-risk children at King School as part of their back-to-school program.

With the help of King School Principal Carol Erbe, the Advocacy Council provided shoes to 40 youths on registration day, August 25. The teachers and staff identified and measured students for their new shoes and the council went to work shopping. Each child also received a package of socks. CCAC members spent registration day fitting selected students with their new shoes.

CCAC member Sandra Montez said, “with the hard work of our volunteers we were able to distribute shoes to some very happy King Students. It’s so important to start the school year off with a new pair of shoes.”

Superintendent Beverly Hempstead dropped in with Principal Carol Erbe and two Cypress Board of Trustee members, Valerie Peters Wagner and Brian Nakamura, to observe the distribution in progress.
