Mayra Gonzalez promoted at LAUSD

Mayra Gonzalez, now LAUSD Director of Fiscal Services

The Los Alamitos Unified School District has named former Measure G bond program manager, Mayra Gonzalez, as the new Director of Fiscal Services.
Gonzalez fills the position held by Elvia Galicia, who was recently promoted to Assistant Supt. for Business Services.

“She came to us with more than 14 years of exceptional service in a few large districts,” said Supt. Dr. Andrew Pulver.

Gonzalez graduated summa cum laude with a master’s degree in executive leadership from USC, said Pulver, “so we are extremely pleased to be able to elevate her in this new role.”
Galicia said she and Gonzalez “speak the same language when we talk about what’s best for children.”

“I am really excited about working with her,” she added.

“I want to express my gratitude for this opportunity,” Gonzalez told the board. The former bond program manager thanked Facilities Director C. J. Knowland, with whom she worked before the promotion, and other members of her former team.

Gonzales chose to share “one of my favorite quotes” with the board and district.
According to Mark Twain, said Gonzalez, “the two most important days of your life is the day that you were born and the day you find out why.”

“I found my why and my purpose a little over 15 years ago when I commenced my school district career,” said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said her purpose is simply to support student achievement and their success “and I want to continue and collaborate with Eliva (Galicia) to make decisions and recommendations that will be for the betterment of our students.”

She also thanked her family and colleagues for their support, noting that the support she receives from her two teen-aged sons.

“They are my reminder and my inspiration,” she said.
