Los Al Chamber set to host 2nd “Heroes Appreciation Luncheon”

PrePandemic file photo (L-R) Officer Michael LaRocchia, Staff Sergeant Ashley Solis, Staff Sergeant Rheana Martinez, Capt. Chris Karrer, Deputy Alicia Quinones and Orange County Firefighter Austin Krie. Each were selected at the Chamber’s first ever Chamber Heroes Appreciation Luncheon for their service to the communities they serve.

Another community event derailed by the pandemic seems to be back online this week after the Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce announced its popular “Heroes Luncheon” will be held Sept. 23 to honor frontline medical workers and those who serve in uniform.

Chamber Chairwoman Nesi Stewart made the announcement Thursday at their monthly networking meeting.

She said the Chamber conceived the idea and held its first and very successful event in 2019 and, of course, like most of 2020, an attempt to hold its 2nd annual event was cancelled by the pandemic.

In January of 2020, at its fundraising gala, officials credited Chamber board member Judy Klobauch with initially coming up with the idea, which was then transformed into a very successful initial event by the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Nevertheless, Stewart said the Chamber is “proud to announce” the Heroes Appreciation Luncheon will be continued in 2021. “This luncheon will take place Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Rossmoor Community Services at Rush Park,” she said.

The Heroes Appreciation Luncheon honors the men and women in uniform from the military (JFTB 40th Infantry Division and 79th), CHP, Fire Department, Police Department, Sheriff’s Department and for the first time, Chamber officials say Los Alamitos Medical Center is added to the list of honored heroes to honor the bravery of frontline medical workers during the pandemic.

The Chamber is currently seeking sponsors for this year’s event. Contact info@losalchamber.org for additional information or to receive a sponsorship form.
