Rossmoor Community Service District officials sprung into action quickly to fix a gash in a neighborhood “signature” wall on June 29 after a Jeep apparently plowed into it at the corner of Los Alamitos Blvd and Orangewood.
RCSD General Manager Sharon Landers said a quick-thinking witness was able to get the vehicle license plate. “We are hopeful the California Highway Patrol and local police are able to track down the driver,” she said.

The district, without a police force of its own, must rely on CHP for most of its highway enforcement issues.
Fortunately, although it is a heavily used sidewalk, no one was there at the time, so there were no injuries.
RCSD has taken immediate action to repair the wall. “We contracted with a masonry company that has worked for the District previously. They have removed the damaged areas of the wall and have started rebuilding,” she said.

“We had some of the bricks we needed stockpiled, but additional ones are likely to be needed and had to be custom ordered, which we have done,” said Landers.“If we are short bricks, the wall can be fully completed when the custom ordered bricks arrive in about 10 weeks. Everything will be power washed so the bricks will blend better,” said Landers. So the wall is fixed, no one was hurt and a new stockpile of bricks is on the way in case something else happens in the future, the general manager said.
