Lindsi Dennis had a solo home run and drove in another run as the Los Alamitos High softball team held off Edison for a 2-1 win in key Sunset League game on Thursday at Edison High.

Sophomore pitcher Brianna Jewett continued her steady work as she scattered four hits, allowed just one run and struck out two to improve her record to 4-1. The win helped the Griffins (6-1 in league) regain the lead over Huntington Beach in the race for the league title. Huntington Beach had moved into a tie with the Griffins with a win over Los Al, but dropped a 5-3 game to the Marina on Thursday to fall to 5-2.
Andrea Gonzalez was 2 for 3, with a double and run scored and Jade Loe also had a double for the Griffins. Prior to the win over Edison, the Griffins defeated Marina, 9-3 at Los Alamitos. Jewett pitched six innings to get the win.
Junior pitcher Ryan Denhart, recovering from an arm injury, pitched an inning of relief as she tries to get back into form before the playoffs.
Against Marina, Mary Iakopo was 2 for 3 with a double, RBI and two runs scored. Caitlin Ladd was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Jenna Kean had a triple and run scored.
The Griffins hosted Fountain Valley on Tuesday and will be at Newport Harbor on Thursday at 3:15 p.m. They host a rematch with Huntington Beach on Tuesday May 10 at 3:15 p.m. and close out the regular season at Marina on May 12.
