Cypress softball seniors ride the wave of success

The Cypress High School softball team has a tremendous year this season. The Centurions finished second in the Empire League and took on Huntington Beach in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs at Cypress High School on Thursday, May 21. Before entering into the postseason, Cypress had posted a 22-6 overall mark and a 7-2 record in Empire League play. On Tuesday, May, 12, the Centurions defeated Kennedy by the score of 7-0. Behind the source of the Centurions’ successful season has been the seniors on the ballclub. Left to right in the accompanied photo are the four seniors: Catcher Kristyana Boghossian, who will be playing for University of San Diego next year. First baseman Sarah Hamre will be playing for The Lawrenceville School (as a post graduate student). Centerfielder Kacey Whitney is headed to Whittier College. Pitcher Ashley Ross is scheduled to be playing for the University of Illinois next year.
