The Cypress Recreation and Community Services Commission held its annual awards ceremony to recognize the recipients of the Volunteer Service Award, the Youth Volunteer Service Award and the Outstanding Contribution to the Arts Award on April 16 at the Cypress Community Center.
The 2013 Volunteer Service Award recipients are Cypress residents Wanda Slade and Maria Sterk. Slade was recognized for her many years of service with the Cypress Community Festival. Sterk was honored for her long-time involvement with the Cypress Woman’s Club.
The 2013 Youth Volunteer Award recipients, Litawn Gan and Rupan Bharanidaran, both Cypress residents, taught many hours of music at the Cypress Boys & Girls Club.
The 2013 Outstanding Contribution to the Arts recipient is Tito Lassalle, a Garden Grove resident who volunteered the last 15 years of service to the Cypress College Music Department and the Cypress College Patrons of the Arts.
