Cypress Police arrested a man on assault charges after an investigation into a shooting that occurred on Monday in the 9500 block of Linda Lane.

Sonny Arcerios, 25, of Cypress was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance and outstanding warrants.

On April 29, at approximately 11:34 p.m., Cypress Police Officers were dispatched to a condominium on Linda Lane in response to a report of an assault occurring at the location with possible gunshots being fired.  When officers arrived, they located expended shotgun shells and blood; however, no victims were immediately located and no one was located at the condominium.

Through their investigation, officers discovered that the victim in this case, a female adult, had been dropped off at a local hospital with gunshot wounds to her arm, chest, and shoulder.  Officers eventually located the male resident of the condominium a short distance from the scene and subsequently determined he was the shooter.  He was identified as Sonny Arcerios. Arcerios told officers that a group of individuals arrived at his residence to assault him, and that during the attempted assault he shot the female with a shotgun.

The victim sustained several small, non-life threatening shotgun pellet wounds to her arm, leg, and torso.  She was treated and released a short time after being admitted to the hospital.

The case is being investigated by detectives of the Cypress Police Department. Anyone with information regarding the crime, is asked to contact the Cypress Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau at 714-229-6631.
