Boys & Girls Club tackles homelessness & inequality

Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim-Cypress

Orange County’s poverty rate is growing dramatically, along with income inequality and homelessness, rising to 13.5 percent of residents from 8.8 percent in the past nine years. One out of every 6.3 residents of Anaheim is currently living in poverty. The COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated this problem and left families with additional hardships and financial struggles. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress are doing whatever it takes to help their local communities and help combat hunger. In total, the Club has provided over 175,000 meals since the start of end of March.

There are currently three free Grab N’ Go Food Distributions being offered each week from 4:00-5:00pm. Tuesdays are hosted at La Palma Park located at 1125 N. La Palma Parkway in Anaheim, Wednesdays are held at the West Anaheim Youth Center at 320 S. Beach Blvd in Anaheim, and Thursdays are held at Clara King Elementary at 8710 Moody St. in Cypress.

Food distributions are open to all who need it and do not need to be Club families in order to participate. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress asks that participants remain in their vehicles at all times while receiving food. Food is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Grab N’Go Food Distributions would not be possible without the generous donations of Club partners and sponsors including Caterina’s Club, Seacoast Grace Church, Each One Teach One, the Raise Foundation, Anaheim Community Foundation, Influence Church, Elbows Mac N’ Cheese, Dilliwala Indian Kitchen, Katella Family Grill, the Los Angeles Angels, the Anaheim Ducks, Tarsadia Foundation, Shea Homes, Anaheim Public Library, OCCC, SoCal Gas, and Anaheim White House.
