The Los Alamitos Museum is hosting its 2012 Honored Citizen’s Day on Sunday, September 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. The honored recipients for this year are Randy and Diana Hill, alongside Arnie Fine. Anita Schommer has been nominated to be the Special Person for 2012. All have resided in the community of Los Alamitos for many years.
Randy has been very active and supportive of the civic affairs of the community, such as President of the Los Al Football Booster club, with the Griffin Football Foundation, a Board Member of CSMP, recipient of the Heroes of the Heart Award twice, and is currently President of Los Alamitos Educational Foundation. As President of LAEF, Randy is dedicated to make sure every student has enriching opportunities.
Diana has been a community leader in Los Alamitos for a number of years. She has been actively involved with the LAUSD, as a governing board member, a former President of the Los Al Educational Foundation, Committee for Measure K, Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee, Pathways to Independence, just to mention a few, and has received various awards from some of the local PTA’s.
The Museum’s other recipient is Arnie Fine. Arnie’s primary concern is in providing a fun and safe environment for the children of today. He has accomplished this endeavor by being on the Board of Directors of the Los Alamitos Youth Center for over twenty years. Arnie, in his tenure on the Board, has served as President, chaired the Marketing and Fundraising Committees as well as chairing numerous other Committees. Arnie has been an asset to the community’s after school programs.
Anita Schommer has spent her time volunteering with the Museum and volunteering some of her time to the St. Isidore Historical Plaza’s attempt to be the historical pivot of Los Alamitos.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the Honored Citizens ceremony. The local Congressman, Assemblyman and Senator are also invited to attend in recognition of the many accomplishments Randy, Diana and Arnie have achieved in the community. Refreshments will be served after the short program. The Los Alamitos Museum is located at 11062 Los Alamitos Boulevard, Los Alamitos, CA 90720. Telephone number is 562-431-8836.
