With massive construction along the greenbelt resulting in less parking, the 27th Annual Sunset Beach Chili Cook Off still managed to raise nearly $40,000, according to Dawn McCormack, Sunset Beach Woman’s Club Co-President. “It’s wonderful that we’re still able to support local students and folks who want to do continued education and professional development ,” she said.

More than 600 people attended the recent event, including Huntington Beach Mayor Casey McKeon who said: “I had such a great time participating as one of the chili judges. Every entry brought a unique flavor and style which made the judging very difficult as they were all delicious.” There was a huge turnout, the weather was incredible and everyone had a fun time, he said.

Along with rocking music from Cat Reed and Back Alley, there were raffles with prizes including a Bill Anderson Artwork Reproduction Print, food & drinks and plenty of sizzle from sunshine to spicy recipes, according to Sunset Beach Woman’s Club Event Chair Cheryl Coleman. “We look forward to seeing you at our 28th Annual Chili Cook Off on Saturday, September 18th, 2027,” she said.
