A male who was later determined to be a 17 year old juvenile, came into the Los Alamitos Police Department lobby and threatened the unarmed professional staff at the front counter with a knife on Monday, October 10 at approximately 2:39 p.m., according to police.
A male who was later determined to be a 17 year old juvenile, came into the Los Alamitos Police Department lobby and threatened the unarmed professional staff at the front counter with a knife on Monday, October 10 at approximately 2:39 p.m., according to police.
The subject solicited responding police personnel to shoot him, and shortly after turned the weapon and threatened to cause harm to himself. After several attempts at de-escalating the situation, the subject was distracted and a taser was deployed, which incapacitated the subject and allowed officers to disarm him.
The juvenile was transported to a local hospital for treatment due to the taser probes and for psychological evaluation.
No City employees were physically injured.
