West Orange Republicans provide services to Blind Rehabilitation Center

During the West Orange County Republican Women Federated October meeting, held at a Seal Beach venue, members and guests decorated small pumpkins with material (both provided by the club) that could be felt as well as seen for blind and visually challenged veterans at the Blind Rehabilitation Center in Long Beach.

The center provides comprehensive vision rehabilitation services tailored to meet each veteran’s individual needs and goal. Instruction is provided largely on a one-to-one basis and is designed to assist the veteran in achieving a maximum level of independence.

A few days following the meeting, member Pat Windrim and her veteran husband Bob, an associate member, delivered the pumpkins along with bags of candy to the appreciative veterans. They read the many heartfelt messages written on the pumpkins. “The veterans along with those who work at the center were touched by the club’s kindness,” said Pat Windrim. “They kept thanking us, but Bob and I insisted that it is us who must always thank them, our veterans.”
