Millions of military men and women who were not so fortunate, are still suffering in hospitals, rehab centers and homes, with their vastly assorted horrible wounds, and losses of life and/or limbs,
Veterans Day is a special day that is designated as one when Veterans are acknowledged and thanked. Many towns, cities, and numerous civic organizations have parades, ceremonies, and other patriotic events to commemorate all living and deceased Veterans of all past and present wars.
Numerous businesses and organization offer their special services to Veterans.
We are all very thankful to thousand of restaurants in America that express their thanks by offering free meals to Veterans on November 11th and a very kind “Thank You for your service,”
Numerous other business organizations across America also express their gratitude to Veterans with their particular services and products.
The members of Seal Beach American Legion Post 857, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4048 are truly happy to have organized and conducted their annual Veterans Day ceremony on Friday, November 11 in Eisenhower Park in Seal Beach, California.
We are very pleased and thankful for the large audience who attended.
Our Veteran Posts are happy to have received the services of the dozens of Southeast Young Marines, dressed in their camouflage-type uniforms, whose first duty was to unload and place the numerous folding chairs loaned to us by the Seal Beach Lions Club, Military Affairs Committee
Precisely at 11 a.m., Master of Ceremonies, Beverly Bonney, Commander of American Legion Post 857, began a well-planned program of patriotic music and appropriate speeches by guest speakers. She asked all members of her Post, the members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4048, and all other Veterans to come and sit in the two front rows of chairs.
Guest Speaker, U.S. Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, spoke about the evil terrorism affecting our national and worldwide security and defense. He honored the service and sacrifices of our military people and Veterans benefits, etc.
The next speaker, Veterans Voices columnist, Bill Thomas, rendered the historical participation of all war Veterans from the Revolutionary War that started in 1775, to the present. At the end of Thomas’ speech, the audience acknowledged his 93rd birthday by singing the “Happy Birthday” song.
