Last week, the City of Cypress recognized Target for its volunteer response following the emergency that impacted parts of Orange County after the Garden Grove chemical leak on May 21.
During a City Council meeting, Cypress Mayor Leo Medrano and City Council members David Burke, Kyle Chang, Bonnie Peat and Rachel Strong Carnahan presented Target representatives with a certificate honoring the company’s support of the community during the emergency.
Following the incident, nearly 50 Target team members volunteered their time to help coordinate donations from stores across the region for delivery to American Red Cross shelters.
Target’s Rialto distribution center also donated approximately $25,000 in essential supplies to the American Red Cross Orange County Chapter, including water, towels, pillows, pet supplies, baby wipes and other necessities. Target’s Cypress store at 6835 Katella Ave. was temporarily closed due to evacuation orders before safely reopening once the emergency had passed.
