Los Al Griffin Girls Varsity Tennis heads into the CIF-SS Division I quarterfinals after winning their first two playoff matches.
On Wednesday, they beat Northwood 14-4 in the first round. On Friday, they beat Westlake 12-6 in the second round. But the Griffins were on the road on Monday against the top-seeded Campbell Hall team. The Griffins were eliminated 16-2, by Campbell Hall.
Varsity CIF qualifiers include: Claire Akashi, Aliya Alenikov, Sydney Bott, Mary Bunting, Megan Coats, Sarah Edwards, Caroleen Fararji, Melissa Gahungu, Hope Hairrell, Stephanie Kim, Alaina Liu, Jennifer Lu, Andrea Miloslavic, and Karoline Pintar.
Griffin girls’ coach Kevin Garrett said he was proud of how well the team played in the playoffs, against unfamiliar opponents with more experience than many of the matches they played during regular season play.
