Orange County Fire Authorities say one woman was killed and two people, including a firefighter, was injured early Monday after a blaze was reported in Rossmoor.
Authorities say the fire was reported at approximately 6:30 a.m. in the 12500 block of Martha Ann Drive @ Gertrude Drive, including “reports of potential trapped person in working structure fire.”
When firefighters arrived, they found the single-story house with flames and black smoke coming from the roof, according to Public Information Officer Capt. Thanh Nguyen via Twitter.
“They found one man with smoke inhalation and burn injuries, and he was taken to the hospital,” Nguyen said.
It was immediately unclear if he was rescued by firefighters or able to get out of the structure himself. One woman was found dead inside the home, Nguyen said.
The relationship between the man and woman was immediately unknown and neither has yet been identified. He said the fire was declared knocked down 40 minutes later.
The injured firefighter was taken to the hospital for a leg injury, he added.
“Per standard operating procedure, fire investigators are conducting an investigation. There is no cause determined at this time,” he said on the OCFA Twitter feed.
