RLA Republican Women Federated welcomes professor

The Rossmoor-Los Alamitos Republican Women Federated will welcome Dr. Barbara Stone, emeritus professor of political science at California State University, Fullerton at their upcoming meeting May 18.

A dynamic and engaging speaker, Dr. Stone will share her perspective on the state and national political landscape and its impact on our region. The Saturday morning breakfast meeting is held at the conveniently located Cypress Courtyard by Marriott (5865 Katella Avenue at Valley View). The program begins at 9:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast – $25 for members and $28 for non- members.

Dr. Stone is an expert on politics at the local, regional, and national levels, and remains active in a number of elective, community and political activities throughout the state. She is the author of several publications regarding California politics.

Precious Life Shelter – With Mother’s Day in May, the club is asking members and guests to bring items for Precious Life Shelter mothers and mothers-to-be. Founded in 1982 when Theresa and Don Sherrin took four expectant homeless women into their home, the non-profit shelter has helped hundreds of homeless pregnant women to become self-reliant members of the community.

Armed Services Day – Since May 18 is Armed Services Day, members and guests are invited to bring a photo of them or a loved that is serving/served in our armed forces.

The RLA club, which serves northwest Orange County cities and greater Long Beach, welcomes like-minded women and men who want to impact local, state and national politics. Reservations can be made at: RossLARepWomen@aol.com.
