OC voters create record turnout

Voters casting their ballot in the Nov. 3, 2020 election.

An astounding and record-breaking 85.1 percent of registered voters in Orange County turned up at the polls or mailed in a vote as they collectively decided the fate of many office seekers and other public policy initiatives.

According to Registrar of Voters Neal Kelley, approximately 1.5 million of the eligible 1.7 voters in Orange county voters turned out to vote.  Exact percentages for local races were not immediately available.

At press time, the Registrar’s Office said there were still about 30,000 mail-in votes to be counted. Kelley’s office said of the approximately 1.8 million pandemic voters, 1,247,827 were mail-in ballots while only 260,302 voters walked in to vote at vote centers throughout the county.

Most of the candidates contacted by Event-News Enterprise preferred to wait until votes were counted so we will include reaction to the races next week. (i) denotes incumbency
