Elections were held on Nov. 6, to fill two seats on the Cypress School District Board of Trustees. Those seats were won by Brian Nakamura and Candice Kern. Both board members had been appointed previously to fill seats on the board left vacant when a board member retired.
Nakamura is a long time resident of the City of La Palma, and Kern a long time resident of the City of Cypress. Both have been active in the Cypress School District community for many years.
Superintendent Beverly Hempstead administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected board members at the organizational meeting held on Dec. 12. Board meetings are held the second Thursday of each month in the district boardroom at 9470 Moody St. in Cypress.
