This past weekend the Los Alamitos AYSO Girls U10 All Star soccer team took part in the AYSO California State Championships in Palm Springs.
The girls were representing not only Los Alamitos but also AYSO Section 11; an area extending all the way from Los Alamitos through Southern California to the Mexican Border. Only 4 teams from several hundred AYSO regions had earned qualification for the tournament so the competition and level of play was exceptionally high.

A morning semi-final against the eventual champions Covina was tied up until late on in the game until a penalty call against the Los Al girls broke the deadlock with Covina holding on to move forward to the final. Not to be discouraged, the All Stars regrouped later that day to come out victorious in a thrilling come from behind victory against a stubborn team from Tulare to capture a 3rd place medal.
