People came from throughout southern California Saturday to Shoreline Village as a Zydeco band straight from Louisiana set the beat for the long afternoon. The walking parade strut through the crowd about 3 p.m. while the dancing and merriment went until late in the evening. Long lines persisted throughout the day for “Louisiana Charlie’s, a Cajun restaurant that served dishes like jambalaya, gumbo and etouffee as fast as it could be prepared. The celebration welcomes the Catholic season of Lent which begins Ash Wednesday, which occurs on March 5 in 2025.
