Veterans Voices: USA must unite now
Please do not become fearful or apprehensive to the following message. It is meant to help everyone become aware and knowledgeable of any “impeding situations and circumstances” that may or may not arise.
Primarily due to our recent national election campaigns and the ultimate election results, (almost like never before in OUR lifetimes) have our people become so divided into two totally definitely segmented sides. There is also another segment of people who did not vote, or are indifferent, impartial, apathetic, unconcerned, etc.
Guest Column: Lessons from a cat
Our Momma cat was just a teenager when she had her kittens. We kept one and found happy homes for the rest. While Momma enjoyed the freedom to come and go as she pleased, Baby stayed indoors – that is until she made a game-changing thirty second running tour of the house – glancing off walls, toppling lamps and shredding draperies. In my mind’s eye, I can still see the look on Momma when Baby went outside. It read as, “Are you kidding me? Who is going to take care of her now?”
Guest View: Thoughts on JM Ivler
When I was very young and just beginning to form my view of the world one prominent media figure captured my imagination, tempted me to imitation, and struck me as heroic rising above all other intellects in clear thinking and execution of style in conversation. No it was not JFK. It was notorious conservative and talk show host William F. Buckley Jr. On his 1960s and 70s confrontational television program Firing Line Bill Buckley would fearlessly invite some of the most articulate liberal thinkers and talkers of the time.

Village 605 appeal withdrawn
Call it a sign of the times.
When the Los Alamitos City Council approved the Village 605 shopping center last year, it appeared to sail through the city. But when residents noticed the sign advertising the shopping was gigantic, digital and 120-feet tall, an appeal was filed.
The developer, Lincoln Property Co., downsized the offending sign the day before the appeal was to go before the city.
So the project has the green light again, with a scaled down sign and crosswalk modification.

Soula and I watched TV, alternating between various channels to watch the extensive ceremonies all across the USA. Eagerly anxious to stay up until midnight, we sipped a Rum-Daiquiri, and prepared to watch the final countdown, ”… 4, 3, 2, 1” of the big ball in New York City.
We wish you a very “Happy New Year” for 2017, and many decades ahead.
