The La Palma-Cerritos Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) gathered in December to celebrate the Holiday season with their spouses or significant others. Members brought a variety of appetizers, main dishes, salads and desserts to share at the gathering. In keeping with the holiday spirit of helping others in need at this time, members also brought toys, toiletries and other gifts to donate for families being helped by Su Casa. Su Casa is a non-profit, community based organization dedicated to “Ending Domestic Violence” by offering families in crisis a “Sanctuary and a Support Center” in the Long Beach area in California.
Christina Kreachbaum, Director of Community Outreach at Su Casa, accepted all the gifts that the AAUW members donated for the families at Su Casa. Kreachbaum said she was grateful for the generosity and all the help that the La Palma-Cerritos Branch of the AAUW has given to Su Casa for many years.
Joan Autry, the AAUW’s current liaison to Su Casa, said that members of the AAUW help to shop for groceries at Food for Less for the families of Su Casa on a weekly basis. They learn of different needs at Su Casa as they fill Su Casa’s grocery lists. Persons interested in donating items for the families at Su Casa can contact Christina Kreachbaum at 562-421-3297 or cell 562-505-9479, and may deposit items at the Su Casa office at 3840 Woodruff Avenue, Suite 203, Long Beach, California.
