Five different players scored for the Griffins, with Anthony Bussa, Kenny DeRamos, Michael DiMatteo, Daniel Weis and Ozvaldo Yanez each scoring a goal. Goalie Connor Fatone was credited with three saves in the shutout.
The Griffins improved to 18-3-6 overall and 7-1-1 in league play with the win. On Wednesday, the Griffins had a 3-1 win over Edison, as they scored three first half goals to take control of the game. Evan Bacani, Aron Rudich and Yanez each had a goal in the win. Fatone was credited with four saves.
The Griffins will close out the regular season at Huntington Beach today at 5 p.m. The Griffins will go into the CIF-SS playoffs as the first place team out of the Sunset League.
Kennedy defeats Western
The Kennedy High boys soccer team got a late goal from Jesus Ibarra to defeat Western High, 2-1 in a Empire League game on Friday at Kennedy High.
Jordan Hunter had the other goal for the Fighting Irish and also had an assist in the win. The Fighting Irish had a game at Yorba Linda on Tuesday and will finish the season at home against Tustin on Thursday at 3 p.m. The Fighting Irish came into the week with a chance for a top three finish in the Empire League and playoff berth.
