On Saturday, March 26th, Friends of Weaver (FOW) is hosting its annual fundraising gala at the Old Ranch Country Club. This year’s theme is SATURDAY NIGHT WEAVER, sponsored by the Simon Law Group. The event will be a 1970s themed parents’ night out that includes both a live and silent auction, as well as dinner, dancing, and a casino to enhance STEAM and other learning programs for students at Jack L. Weaver Elementary School. The annual gala provides more than 80 percent of the annual revenue FOW needs to fund instructors, equipment, and programs to support the school’s long-standing tradition of pioneering innovative programs and providing the best opportunities for its students.

Last Year, due to the pandemic, FOW had to be creative and thus, created a virtual event called the UNGALA (a take on the Alice in Wonderland Un-Birthday). The fundraiser was hosted on Zoom with a silent auction that featured an hour of family fun with the Weaver community. Because of the generosity of Weaver families and business partners, FOW, raised over $80,000! During the current 2021-22 school year, FOW is using the funds to pay for a part time STEAM instructor, a media center aide as well as a part-time intervention teacher. In addition, Friends of Weaver also revamped Weaver’s media center by providing new flexible, multipurpose furniture and funded a PLC (Professional Learning Community) room for teacher planning and meetings.

Friends of Weaver is a non-profit group run by parents who work to raise money to fulfill their mission statement to, “Inspire a life-long passion for learning by tapping into children’s curiosity and drive to explore.” Originally created as a response to budget cuts at the state level, FOW is now made up of over sixteen board member and committee chairs who are enthusiastic about providing the best opportunities for Weaver students.
Saturday Night Weaver is sure to be a groovy time! The headline sponsor is the Simon Law Group, the supporting event sponsor is Family Floors, and the proud supporting casino sponsor is Dino’s Chicken. Also supporting the gala is Southland Credit Union, and Real Estate Broker Mary Murphy, and Realtor Nina Le.
