Cypress Mayor Dr. Prakash Narain, Council Member Douglas Bailey and city staff visited with executives of Real Mex Restaurants at their flagship El Torito location at 5995 Katella Avenue in Cypress on Monday, Dec. 2.

Real Mex Restaurants is the largest full-service, casual dining Mexican restaurant chain operator in the United States with 122 company-owned-and-operated restaurants as well as 15 franchised restaurants.  In addition to El Torito Restaurants, their brands include Acapulco Mexican Restaurants, Chevys Fresh Mex Restaurants, El Torito Grill Restaurants, Las Brisas Restaurant in Laguna Beach, Sinigual Restaurant in New York City, Who Song and Larry’s in Vancouver, Wash., and El Paso Cantina in Torrance.

It seemed only fitting that the Mayor, city officials and Real Mex Restaurants executives met at El Torito, known to many as “the” place to celebrate a special occasion with a group.  Not only is it a great location for business meetings and luncheons, El Torito is perfect for everything from birthdays to corporate events, retirement and award recognition parties, as well as holiday celebrations. With both semi-private and private rooms available, a large variety of delicious menu choices, in addition to decorations and linen options to fit any budget, El Torito is ready to help businesses or individuals customize their special event, whether large or small. Additionally, El Torito’s celebration expertise can be brought directly to you via off-site catering on either a full-service or drop-off basis.

The company established their Cypress headquarters in 2005.  The flagship El Torito location in Cypress opened in 1990.

El Torito was established in 1954 and currently operates 58 locations. With a history of innovation in Mexican cuisine in the U.S., El Torito is credited with introducing the “margarita cocktail,” in addition to popularizing such items as tableside guacamole, the sizzling fajitas platter and the edible tostada shell.
