Dean Hirsch, age 10, decided he wanted to bring the spirit of Christmas to his friends on the third floor at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, so he asked for some help from his family, friends, and community to help make his wish a reality. Dean has been collecting toys and gifts for a couple weeks and now has plenty to give.
He was excited to bring the gifts last week when he went in for his last scheduled chemotherapy treatment on Dec. 18. He brought many toys, gift cards, presents for all the patients on the oncology floor. Dean knows firsthand, just how much these gifts meant to these patients and their families.
Dean hopes to make this gift-giving trip to CHOC an annual event for him and his family. He was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma on April 26, 2012. He has been undergoing intense chemotherapy treatments since diagnosis. He has been home schooling since diagnosis and is looking forward to going back to school and soccer again this spring.
