The Cypress High girls volleyball team captured a CIF-SS Division 3 Championship on Saturday, with a 3-0 match sweep of Foothill High. The Centurions entered the playoffs as co-champions of the Crestview League, tied with Sunny Hills at 6-2 in league play. The Centurions then proceeded to sweep Riverside Poly and Long Beach Wilson. They upset No. 2 Long Beach Millikan in four sets and battled St. Margaret’s to a five-set victory. In the finals they swept No. 4 Foothill in three sets. The Centurion team is Camille Deguzman, Katrina Sokolowski, Kendel Harris, Zuriel Gallegos, Kanani Moreno, Ashlyn Wenzler, Miriam Masanja, Leona Alexis, Gabi Macalello, Risha Rajkumar, Isabella Faro, Alyssa Niebres, Hannah Schoffstall, and Adeline Russell. Head Coach is Alex Griffiths. Assistant coaches are Celeste Manliguis, Corey Manliguis, and Gus Tuaniga. Athletic trainer is Marcy Lloyd and Principal is Jennifer Brown.
