The Orange County Health Care Agency has just announced (afternoon of August 20} that the California Department of Public Health today approved a second batch of school systems for in-person elementary instruction, including the elementary schools within the Los Alamitos Unified School District.
Los Al Unified had applied for the waiver last week, submitting a detailed application to the state health department that included safety protocols and other requirements necessary for consideration.
Dr. Andrew Pulver Superintendent of Los Alamitos Unified, was in a meeting and not immediately available for comment. We will keep our readers informed as soon as any announcements are made.
Meanwhile, St. Hedwig was not on the list of approved schools released today. Principal Erin Rucker confirmed they too, have applied for a waiver for in-person elementary instruction and are still waiting for final approval.
