Aquarium to present Festival of Abilities Jan. 29

The Aquarium of the Pacific will again celebrate the talents and creativity of people with disabilities with a weekend of performances, art, and other programming at its 19th annual Festival of Human Abilities.

According to an AoP press release, the event celebrates the creative talents of people with disabilities. All attendees will be able to experience live performances by dancers, musicians, and artists who have learned unique adaptive skills to hone their craft.

The Aquarium will also present its Glenn McIntyre Heritage Award to a member of the community. This festival will include sign language interpreters, and the Aquarium will have visitor guides in braille and audio tours available for guests who are blind.

The event will be held Sat, Jan. 29 and Sun., Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Aquarium, which is located at 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach.

According to the aquarium, the cost to attend the festival is included with general admission: $36.95 per adult (ages 12+), $26.95 per child (ages 3-11), $33.95 per senior (ages 62+), and free for Aquarium members and children under age three.

The event is sponsored by MemorialCare Miller Children and Women’s Hospital and by the Long Beach downtown Courtyard by Marriott, they said.
