Matsunaga’s Eagle Scout service project was to design and construct five carnival style games for the Anaheim Free Methodist Church’s Annual Harvest Festival. Matsjunaga raised $545 in donations to purchase the material and supplies for the games. The project took 234 hours with the assistance of 26 youth and adult volunteers under his leadership and planning.
Those in attendance of the recognition ceremony included more than 70 family and friends, proud parents Victor and Zipporah Matsunaga, Cypress City Council Member Rob Johnson, current Scoutmaster Daniel Martinez, and past Scoutmasters Geoffrey Monti and Richard Braun. The Master of Ceremony was Jai Chopra.
“The Boy Scouts of America is to be commended for fostering the ideals of citizenship, community participation and building strong families,” said Council Member Johnson. “Mr. and Mrs. Matsunaga, congratulations for your efforts working together through the years to help mold this fine young man with a solid sense of leadership, citizenship, character, and responsibility,” he added.
