The Legislative Affairs Committee of West Orange County, held its annual Legislative Networking Mixer on Friday at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos.
The event represented the cities of Cypress, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach and Stanton. Several local representatives were on hand and many spoke briefly to the attendees. Assemblyman Travis Allen spoke about some of the legislation he is pushing in the State Assembly, including a bill to save the beach fire rings in Orange and Los Angeles County, which are under pressure as air pollutants.
County Supervisors John Moorlach and Janet Nguyen spoke on behalf of the county about having the state legislature treat Orange County like the rest of the state. At odds is the states taking of Orange County vehicle license fees, which the county fought for in court. The county lost the first court case, but is looking to appeal, Moorlach said.
The bulk of the event allowed attendees to talk with representatives informally. Others in attendance included Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, State Senator Bob Huff and Congressman Alan Lowenthal.
