More than 2,300 people enjoyed the dining fare of 40 local restaurants at the 12th Annual Taste for Los Alamitos held recently in the back parking lot at the Shops at Rossmoor.
More than 2,300 people enjoyed the dining fare of 40 local restaurants at the 12th Annual Taste for Los Alamitos held recently in the back parking lot at the Shops at Rossmoor.
Through ticket sales, raffles and the silent auction, the event raised more than $200,000 for activities at Los Alamitos High School. Larger groups such as the football, baseball and vocal groups as well as smaller groups such as tennis, golf and jazz band participated. The newest Griffin activity, ice hockey, also participated.
Taste gives small sports a chance to compete for funds on an equal playing field with large sports. Each group keeps $25 for each $45 ticket sold.
Softball, a sport with only about 40 participants, was once again the leader in ticket sales, selling over 400 bringing them more than $10,000 for their activity. Baseball edged girls soccer for second place in the ticket race at 333 to 332. Baseball was the leader in auction table revenues, bringing in almost $8,500 to bring their fundraising to more than $17,000.
Among restaurants participating in the event were four that have been in every single Taste – Hof’s Hut, Yucatan Grill, Sango Sushi and Marie Callender’s Grill.
Making their first appearance were Blake’s Place, Forbidden City, Beachwood BBQ, Mimi’s Café, Drunken Udder Ice Cream, Old Ranch Country Club, Schott’s Cookies, Kampai Sushi, and two olive oil proprietors– Antica Olive Oil of Los Alamitos, and Temecula Olive Oil Company of Main Street in Seal Beach.
Other participating restaurants included Shenandoah at the Arbor, Finbar’s, Mahe, Rubio’s, Pei Wei, Mr. B’s, Naples Rib Company, Jamba Juice, McKenna’s On the Bay, Katella Deli, Bogart’s Coffee, 320 Main, Macaroni Grill, Kelly’s of Naples, Belmont Brewing Company, Dove Chocolates, Daphne’s California Greek, Enfuso Olive Oil, Lucille’s BBQ, On the Rock’s, Polly’s Pies, Bogart’s Coffee, Great Dane Baking Company, Steve’s BBQ, and the Long Beach Firemen’s Grill.
