Community gathers to pay tribute to Dave and Diane Appling

It was huge loss when long time community trailblazer Dave Appling passed away in March, followed by his beloved wife Diane not long thereafter.

A few hundred of David and Diane Appling’s closest friends gathered recently at the Eagles Nest dining hall in Cypress to celebrate the lives of this couple who held their community and friends in a lifelong embrace of caring and public service. Closest of close friends Dave Barnes urged all in the hall to, as Dave Appling’s parting salutation always left us with, “keep smiling.”

Dave and Diane Appling: 1942-2026, passed away within one month of each other. They gave so much to the community and for a brief moment, the community took the opportunity to say thanks.
