Ann Allen, the Principal at McAuliffe Middle School, is not only the Los Alamitos Unified School District Administrator of the Year, but she has recently been selected as the 2017 Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 17 Middle School Principal of the Year for Orange County.
She was surprised with this prestigious honor in front of students, staff, and families at a recent choir concert. Through tears of joy, she exclaimed what an honor it was for her to serve the amazing McAuliffe Community.

Allen has been in Los Alamitos Unified for 30 years, all of them at McAuliffe. She was a science teacher, learning specialist, assistant principal, and has been the Principal for five years. She is an extraordinary leader with both drive and heart. She is motivated by what is best for kids and has an abundance of love for them, her job, and her staff. Under her leadership, student performance has continually increased and has placed McAuliffe Middle School as a top performer across the County and State. Students thrive and are experiencing a high-quality, robust experience in academics, athletics, activities, and the arts.
Allen and her husband, Tom, have raised two children, both Los Alamitos High School Graduates.
“Mrs. Allen is strong, kind, courageous, and laughs easily. I cannot say enough great things about Annie Allen; she is simply extraordinary and inspires all of us to be the best we can be,” said Superintendent Kropp.
