Local boutique gets a new look

Local boutique Dixie James just underwent a week of renovations and the owner is planning a week-long anniversary celebration in April.

Dixie James boutique decided to have a little work done.
The Los Alamitos home boutique, which opened last summer next to Shenandoah at the Arbor, closed last week for a renovation that included a new floor plan, expanded space, fresh paint, light fixtures, and refinished wood floors.
“It’s just beautiful,” said one shopper, who traveled to the store from Ontario and peeked at the work in progress. “We come here because we love the look — modern farmhouse, like Joanna Gaines.”

The shop’s owner, Allie Wilson, travels the country for unique finds — including Waco, Texas’ Magnolia Market, the home decorating destination owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines. In September, Allie returned with a huge truckload of merchandise for her store, which sold out in a matter of weeks.
“I like to find items that have a history, that feel authentic,” Allie said. “We want our customers to get excited here, to discover things they won’t find anywhere else. We want them to feel inspired about decorating their homes in a way that truly reflects who they are.” Allie, who also does in-home styling and event design, describes her style as classic yet on-trend, with a rustic, eclectic and vintage edge.
The store’s offerings include furniture, home and garden décor, lighting, gifts, glassware, linens, kitchen, and candles. It is located at 10621 Los Alamitos Blvd. in Arbor Village. Dixie James is currently planning a week-long anniversary celebration in April which will include special events, decorating workshops, and a new website launch.
